Data generated in sensor networks will become one of the major data sources published and shared through the Internet. Today the data publishing is typically performed through custom-made solutions. We started to work on a generic middleware for data stream publishing and sharing Global Sensor Networks [2, 5, 6, 7]. We provide a generic and highly adaptive platform for fast deployment of sensor data stream applications. We investigate optimization techniques and publish-subcribe based access to sensor data [3]. The results are exploited in environmental application projects, in particular in the Swiss Experiment [1,4].
